Quick construction and weekend update! Our new house was finished and we closed and moved in about 7 weeks ago. It's been a whirlwind of activity since then ... we've been taking pictures - but haven't had a chance to post them.
This weekend the house had an initiation of sorts ... we were one of three houses in a progressive dinner for our church's student ministry. At some point Saturday morning - we thought we must have been smoking crack to volunteer to have 45 kids under 17 and all the accompanying adults in our brand new house on our brand new carpet and wood floors - eating sticky gooey desserts too! - but then we realized - hey - we can always rent a carpet cleaner on Monday ;) It's not a big deal!
It's a great time to have a party at the house - because we don't have much furniture on the first floor yet :) We borrowed some tall bar-height tables from the church - and had them all over the first floor of the house. The theme of the night was "Black and White" - attire and decor was to be black/white. It was a fun evening -- all the girls were decked out in super cute dresses and some of the guys even had on jackets and ties! I think they enjoyed getting dressed up - and some of them had never done a progressive dinner before - so it was a new experience for them!
Here's a few pics from our house -- more from our house and the other two houses in the link at the bottom.
Today is moving day ... we've just waved goodbye to our friends from "Two Men and a Truck". Almost everything we own is sitting in a POD in the driveway now. We're now sitting in a mostly empty house. A strange sense of sadness and happiness fills the air. We have LOVED this house. It was our first home. We have lots of great memories here ... and now we are moving on. So we're happy to have the hardest moving part done!
Our new house will be finished in about six weeks. Til then we're in temporary housing graciously provided for us by our church (God is good! We are so blessed!) We'll be going there tonight and then heading back here tomorrow morning for cleanup and loading of the tech stuff. We didn't put any of our computers, tivos, or geek stuff in storage. Since we'll be displaced for 6 weeks - we'll be setting up an office temporarily so I can get some work done.
Sigh. I'm tired - but just getting this done means we are one step closer to being in our new home - so it's a good tired ;)
We put the house on the market Friday morning ... got an offer this afternoon. Woohoo!!!! We're homeless come June 5 ;)
All that's left now is a home inspection (which we should pass easily). Then we start packing!
What a huge weight off our shoulders to have the house sold so quickly - and for what we wanted to get. Now we can just relax and look forward to the new house getting finished in late July.
Oh yeah - one more thing is left to do - finding somewhere to live for two months ;)

Anybody looking for a house in West-West-Nashville? :)
I was gleefully doing laundry all day today!! I never would have dreamed that sentence would ever appear on this blog ;) I'm sure it's just a by-product of having a broken washer for almost a month now (it broke right before we left for California; when we got back and finally got a new one ordered ... we then had a wait a week for delivery.) And today was D Day. Delivery Day.
 I danced a jig with the two delivery men and then waved goodbye to them as they took away our evil no-spinning-or-rinsing old washer away. Then I closed the door and started a clothes washing frenzy the likes of which many of you couldn't even imagine. Towels, jeans, t-shirts and more ... Vegas sweatshirts and Lake Tahoe fleece jackets ... all our vacation clothing that we bought and had been waiting for this washer to wash ... sheets and socks and underwear galore ... by this afternoon I was even throwing things in there that weren't even dirty! :bounce: Just to see my new washer go. It's a heavy duty, super capacity Maytag. Although, we had a super capacity before ... but this sucker is super duper capacity. I think we could fit Mac in there for his bathtime.
O Maytag Super Duper Washing Machine ... how do I love thee? Let me count the ways .... :heartbeat:
I spent this afternoon filling in nail holes and taping off one of the spare bedrooms upstairs. When we bought the house - the light light pink on the walls didn't bother me. It was a spare room - not top on the priority list. But I've worked on practically every other room in the house - all the other bedrooms have been redone - so that pink room started to annoy me. I think it's just because I hate white walls. And the pink in that room is soooo faint - it's basically white.
So ... tonight I will start cutting in with a beautiful fresh coat of paint that will look great with the blue linens we have in that room. The color is called Citron Ice.
I love paint color names. I will never buy paint that doesn't have a pretty name. Our master bathroom is painted in Flowing Breeze. The master bedroom is Cozy Melon. Our office: Smooth Pebble. The green accents all over the house: Secret Garden. Secret Garden ... I love that one. Great names. What a great job; that person who gets to name the paint colors.
Why yes ... that looks like ... Tangerine Dream!
